Forum rules

In order to give ocarina makers a chance to edit their own information and add news and updates in the opening post of a thread dedicated to their business we ask you to follow the following rule:

If you are making a thread about another ocarina brand, only post factual information in the opening post. If that ocarina brand has a representative on Little Geese: The Ocarina Forum, it would be best to let them create a topic for themselves. Otherwise, if you want to post your opinion or a review, you can create a new post directly after making the first post to do so. Keep in mind that the first post of any thread in this subforum may be completely deleted to be used by the ocarina brand representative that is being discussed in the thread.

If you are an ocarina maker or a representative of an ocarina brand and wish to have a topic dedicated to your business, feel free to start your own, unless it already exists, in which case, please contact the user Bas or send an e-mail to , so that we can arrange it so that you can have the opening post.

I keep reading your email of “Updates” and believe I understand your questions, even tho I only make 10 and 11 hole examples.

1. I’ve found that the music I like requires 10 hole instruments
2. Eleven holed instrument are best because of what you have questioned
3. 12 holed examples just exaggerate your concerns and frankly, is the 12th hole really that valuable for most folk?

Picked up one of the first ones I made last night. Oh it is awful save for one similarity found on another of the first ones where the voicings were narrower and the channel both narrower and higher. The walls around the voicing are higher—the warm timbre continues throughout its range, something I want

So I spent time trying to make a “quiet” ocarina that has the same character/design I SEE FROM OTHER EXAMPLES. This is wrong. I’ve determined that I can buy ones that have this mainstream design and character. I want and know how to get that character that pleases me.

Listening to conversations and discussions on the forums have lost me with nuances of personal tastes. Consistency is the constant and I can’t see how anyone would sell or buy an instrument that requires differing consideration for playing different notes.

At the moment I am mixing this backyard shale in another way. Also the mixtures are ageing until the “acid” (!) allows for bacteria to do its thing. If plasticity does increase, then I’m in heaven
