Second try--surely there must be interest in wind channel trials.

Making ocarina from clay does not allow certain changes to be made after the clay has dried. Often experiments have to be made with very tight controls, possibly even in other media.

My continued experiments indicate that the height of the channel can modify the pitch by at least 75 cents. And within reason and design, the back pressures remain indifferent with the player.

Additional experiments with square and rectangular windows are being done---I'm not so sure if there is a benefit. I still would like to know when the teardrop shape was first used and the benefits folks get from this design

I've found the same thing with my windways. It will substantially raise the pitch if you open the exit height. And will also raise the pitch even more so if you open both the entrance and the exit more. More air equals higher pitch.

Hey J,
(my reply seemingly did not get posted)

surprisingly my trials lower the pitch considerably. Lower pressure may contribute this character.

I'm still having a blast. Have any of you heard from Bas, Ross, Jade? Is everyone just not emailing and planning to meet in Italy?

I haven't heard from any of them recently. Especially Bas and Ross. I plan on being in Italy and will probably start getting in contact closer to the date but I have a feeling people will probably just run into each other as well. As long as you know who you are looking for.
