Today it was pretty much confirmed that I have torn my acl again and have possibly damaged some other ligaments :( devastated is the word to describe today... who knew so much could happen to a 15 year old...

A martial arts demonstration gone wrong I guess. My knee just didn't hold up apparently :(

Aw man, thats some sad news, but dont despair! I have many friends that have torn their ACL numerous times (bike racing, fencing etc) and while it does hurt like hell, theyve re-cooperated over time and have gone back to doing what they love. Youre lucky that youre still young though, that tissue should heal better than if you tore it when older.
keep positive mate, you can still make ocarinas in the mean time! ^.^

Thanks Ross. The only problem is that this is a retear. So I actually had my first surgery last august. Hopefully this time it will work though :/ anyways yeah I guess I will be able to still make ocarinas. But as I said, the first month or so will be quite difficult.

oh awesome stuff man! Theyre looking better and better each time ^o^
They do look very small to me, but without a technical reference, its difficult to really tell.

The right hand placement looks a bit better than before, though I would still put the fingerholes a tiny bit more up on top of the ocarina's top-curvature, like you would hold a bottle, thumb directly across from the fingers. Either way though, its looking better in general!
Im especially happy with the way you located the subholes. They look quite well positioned.

one other little thing I might suggest, is to elongate the nose a little bit more.
12 hole ocarinas, with asian fingering systems, have tricky hand placements when you release the two thumb holes.

Moderator edit: The discussion regarding the holding of the ocarina on high notes, is continued in this topic.

Thanks Ross. Here is a comparison to a tennis ball to give a better picture of its size.

length- 16.5 cm.
width- 9 cm.
depth- 5 cm.

ah then those dimensions sound ideal for a 12 hole AC ^^
well done man!

Thanks man :D Now the only thing I think I really have left is fixing my sound problems I have been having lately. Time to go back to the drawing board :/ I have been experimenting with different sound hole shapes and have not had too much success with any of them. I think next time I will try elongating them more in order to hit the high notes properly. Also I need to play with how sharp my labium edge is.

Your website looks pretty nice. It would be even better if it had a link to LG on there somewhere :D.

I love that shape. More traditional... I like to see a fat ocarina instead of a more long shaped, normally they have a more sweet round sound

Post subject:  Re: Spirit Wind Ocarina

Thanks :D Yeah I really like this shape too. I wanted to make a comfortable and somewhat bulbous shape, but also wanted to have a little length such as chen ching ocarinas.

I decided to record a favorite song of mine called village rain. I adapted it to play only on alto C.

Thank you to Mr. Kuolong for the instrumental track.

I thought I would post some of my more recent work on here just in case some people haven't seen it yet. I've been experimenting with smoke firing and stuff like that. I think I got some nice results.
