Hot Dog! This looks terrific, and for me, a perfect time for vacation. We shall see. Anyone in the SE USA going?

I think I may be going. It really depends on where finals will be for me. Hopefully I can somehow figure out because I would love to meet some of the makers I have only been able to chat with over forums!

So I have never been to the ocarina festival before, but this year I think I along with my family will be able to attend! I have no idea what I am doing however :D First off, what days would you guys suggest I attend? I cant stay for the whole time so what days are "best" Also does anyone have any suggestions for lodging? Any other important info would also be greatly appreciated!

That is great, I am looking forward to meeting you in person!

My advice is to stay for the entirety of the Festival, it is really less than three days, from Friday, 1st, afternoon, May to Sunday, 3rd May. I don't see how it is practical to travel to another part of the and stay for only one day. But if you absolutely cannot stay for three days, than definitely try see the concert on Saturday evening. It would be a pity to miss that. As an ocarina maker, you will probably also be interested in the ocarina market on Saturday and Sunday morning. If you register, you can have your own stand there and sell ocarinas and be included on the Festival website (which is great advertisement, in my opinion).

Here is the programme of the official events: http://www.ocarinafestival.it/programma-2013-2/?lang=en, but there are usually many informal gatherings. For example, I will probably be giving guided tours of the Ocarina Museum to friends.

As far as lodging is concerned, hotel San Francesco is quite cosy, I had friends stay there in 2011 and 2013. You can find all the information at he Festival website: http://www.ocarinafestival.it/dove-alloggiare/?lang=en. My advice is to contact the hotel soon to book a room, as it will probably be all booked out for the Festival. I would strongly recommend staying in Budrio for the Festival and advise against staying in Bologna, because you would have to take the train to get to your room and many concerts are in the evening when there are very few trains (or none).

If you have any specific questions, feel free to post them here or send me a PM. Or, even better, contact Fabio Galliani.

Thanks Kres! I thought if anyone would have some good info on the subject it would be you. I look forward to meeting you and I'll be sure to post any other questions that I might have.

Any Eastern European makers going to be there? Nicolae Sava from Romania, Trifon Trofonov from Bulgaria, Gyorgy Ban from Hungary? (Ban has been to an earlier festival - he isn't much of an ocarina maker but his whistles and recorders are excellent).

Any private room accommodation? Everything in town seems to be booked up and the nearest available options seem to be more than an hour's walk out in the country.

I had to delay making a final decision about whether to go because my wife is getting some surgery soon, but it looks like they're scheduling it for after the festival, so I can go, if I can find accommodation.
