This looks roughly comparable in scope to the Budrio festival:

Do they have backpacker hostels or similar in Ariano nel Polesine? Is it accessible by public transport?

I might be in that part of the world anyway, as I'm thinking of travelling round Croatia and Bosnia in the spring, starting in Rijeka.

I will certainly attend this Festival (unless I get sick or something unpredictable like that). When more information becomes available, I will post it here.

I can get to Venice airport on the Friday morning but Google doesn't know about buses. Timetables, anyone?

It says:

Maybe it doesn't construct itineraries using more than one bus?

I'll see what I can put together using likely intermediate stops.

Okay, it seems there is no bus service on that day since it's a public holiday, "liberation day" - maybe that's why the date was chosen? I presume that means nothing moves.

(April 25 is also a big public holiday in New Zealand, but buses run pretty much as normal there. And in the UK most holidays have transport running, though it's often full. Grumble grumble grumble).

I could get there two days early (the next earlier feasible flight is on Wednesday 23rd) and there'd be a bus, but that's getting silly.

How are other people going to get there? Surely not everybody drives?

I heard from Emiliano this morning that the organizers are working hard to arrange all transport regarding the Festival. As the date of the Festival approaches, there will be more information on this, including instructions on how to get to Grillara, by car, by public transport or by organized transport. Also there, the transport will be organized for every activity (possibly including also a tourist excursion to Venice).

The home and workshop of Benvenuto Fecchio is in a rather remote place, which has its advantages for the Festival (for example, being allowed to play music until late at night), but also disadvantages (it is more difficult to organize transport of people).

OK, I have booked a flight to Bologna on the 22nd since I have a friend there I'd like to see.

I'd guess a minibusload of people are going from Budrio or thereabouts? Got a spare seat? (All I'll be taking is what Ryanair allows as carry-on).

Hi Jack! I am happy that you will come to the Festival! So finally we can meet personally. I visited your interesting website.
I want to announce to you and to all the ocarina friends that are planning to come to the Po River Delta Festival that just a few days before (Tuesday April 22nd) there will be a special concert at Budrio Theatre (free entrance) to celebrate the GOB tournèes in Japan and Korea. The concert will be organised in collaboration with Japanese and Korean Embassies. The GOB will perform a selection from the concert programs played in the two tournèes. There will be also Korean and Japanese opera singers.

Any suggestions for which hotel to go for? - none of those mentioned on the website seem to be within walking distance.

I meant, near Ariano nel Polesine. I booked into a hotel in Bologna this morning, I intend to stay here for a couple of days. Any way to get back to central Bologna from Budrio late at night by public transport?

Ciao a tutti.
